Grants

Grant Writing Tips, from the Rural Institute.

Have you ever wondered about applying for a grant, but just felt that you didn’t know enough to do it?  The US Department of Labor’s (DOL) Employment and Training Administration (ETA) has a website that can help you learn what you need to know and do to apply for a grant. There is a video and a toolkit.  Check it out, and then apply for that grant to help individuals with disabilities. 
 
Small Grants for Families
Sometimes families need assistance with the costs of traveling to a medical conference or in purchasing durable medical equipment not covered by insurance for their child with a disability.  Find out about the Morgan Project, which gives grants for just that.
 
United Healthcare Children's Foundation Grants
Did you know that United Healthcare Children's Foundation can give grants to families who have a child with a disability to help pay or partially pay for medical services or equipment that may not be fully covered by insurance?
 

Organizations

Disability Funders Network (DFN) is a national membership and philanthropic advocacy organization that seeks equality and rights for disabled individuals and communities by bridging philanthropic resources, disability and community. The Disability Funders Network is not a grantmaking organization, but its members are both grantmakers and nonprofits who work with people with disabilities.

National Disability Institute(NDI)
The NDI promotes income preservation and asset development for persons with disabilities. 

The Foundation Center is a source for information on private philanthropy and grant-making foundations in the United States. It has a directory with contact information for those groups who provide funding to non-profits.The Foundation Center's web site offers instruction on funding research, help with proposal writing, tools for locating prospective funders, news and research on the field, and directs users to training classes at one of its five regional libraries.
