9 Trisomy International Parent Support (9-TIPS)

9 Trisomy International Parent Support (9-TIPS) is an international support network for families of children with Trisomy 9. 9-TIPS connects families whose children have a similar Trisomy 9 diagnoses, updates parents on available medical resources, and circulates annual newsletters.

Aboutface

Aboutface is a nonprofit support and information network which provides emotional support and information to, and on behalf of, individuals who have facial differences and their families. Aboutface provides a newborn care provider package, booklets of information on specific conditions, a quarterly newsletter, hospital visits, school programs, and local chapters across North America. Information is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Acoustic Neuroma Association (ANA)

Acoustic Neuroma Association (ANA) provides information and support to patients who have been diagnosed with or treated for an acoustic neuroma or other benign problem affecting the cranial nerves. ANA also furnishes information on patient rehabilitation to physicians and health care personnel; promotes and supports research on acoustic neuroma and its affects; and educates the public regarding symptoms suggestive of acoustic neuroma, thus promoting early diagnoses and successful treatment.

Administration on Developmental Disabilities (ADD)

The Administration on Developmental Disabilities (ADD) ensures that individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, participate in the design of and have access to culturally competent services, supports, and other opportunities that promote independence, productivity, and integration and inclusion into the community. ADD promotes self advocacy, inclusion, and increases public awareness. ADD is part of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (ACC Network)

Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (ACC Network) is an organization which provides information and communication links to individuals, families and professionals. ACC Network also provides general information packets about ACC, publishes a newsletter, and sponsors an online descussion group (ACC-Listserv).  The University faculty and staff associated with the ACC Network also conduct research to develop a behavioral phenotypes of individuals with ACC and other callosal disorders.

Aicardi Syndrome Foundation (ASF)

The Aicardi Syndrome Foundation, Inc. (ASF) is a not-for-profit organization incorporated in August, 1991. ASF provides funds for the purchase of medical and adaptive equipment for affected daughters, publication and distribution of the Aicardi Syndrome Newsletter, and contributes to ongoing research into the causes of Aicardi syndrome. The foundation is funded by private donations and various fundraising efforts.  Supports also include e-mail groups, newsletter, chat room, and sibling outreach program.

AIDSinfo

AIDSinfo is a U. S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) project providing information on HIV/AIDS clinical research, treatment and prevention, and medical practice guidelines for people living with HIV/AIDS, their families and friends, health care providers, scientists, and researchers. AIDSinfo is a central resource for current information on federally and privately funded clinical trials for AIDS patients and others infected with HIV. AIDS clinical trials evaluate experimental drugs and other therapies for adults and children at all stages of HIV infection -- from patients who are HIV positive with no symptoms to those with various symptoms of AIDS.  AIDSinfo is the main dissemination point for federally approved HIV treatment and prevention guidelines.  It provides information about the current treatment regimens for HIV infection and AIDS-related illnesses, including the prevention of HIV transmission from occupational exposure and mother-to-child transmission during pregnancy. There is Spanish-speaking staff, email, and live help capability available.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a voluntary, worldwide fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. AA's primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.  One tool is AA's Twelve Steps. The general service office provides AA literature and catalogs upon request. AA's website also has newsletters and other publications, and is available in Spanish and French.
