American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD)

The American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) is a professional organization of those involved in physical education, leisure, fitness, dance, health promotion, and education and all specialties related to achieving a healthy lifestyle. AAHPERD provides members with an array of resources, support, and programs to help practitioners improve their skills.

American Art Therapy Association (AATA)

The American Art Therapy Association (AATA) is a nonprofit organization of professionals and students that has established standards for art therapy education, ethics, and practice. American Special Hockey Association

American Special Hockey Association is a affiliated organization of USA Hockey. Over 50 American Special Hockey Programs have been established in over 30 cities in the United States. The goal of Special Hockey is to give people with physical and Developmental Disabilities the chance to play the sport of Ice Hockey in an environment which is adapted to the level of ability which the athletes are able to participate.

American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA)

American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) represents the interests and needs of recreational therapists. Recreational therapists are health care providers using recreational therapy interventions for improved functioning of individuals with illness or disabling conditions. ATRA provides educational opportunities, including conferences and legislative forums; legislative, standards, and regulatory advocacy; treatment specialty network; professional publications; and a newsletter published six times per year.

Armed Forces Recreation Society (AFRS) is a branch of the the National Recreation and Park Association. It works on behalf of military recreation professionals around the world to improve the quality of life for Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Air Force personnel, Coast Guard men and women, and their families.

Best Buddies International (BBI)

Best Buddies International (BBI) aims to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-on-one friendships and integrated employment. The non-profit 501(c)(3) organization fosters mutually enriching friendships between people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities and college students, high school students, middle school students, and community members. Matches go to movies, sporting events, concerts and participate together in recreational activites. In addition, BBI also has an E-Buddies program that creates e-mail friendships between people with and without intellectual disabilities.
