9 Trisomy International Parent Support (9-TIPS)

9 Trisomy International Parent Support (9-TIPS) is an international support network for families of children with Trisomy 9. 9-TIPS connects families whose children have a similar Trisomy 9 diagnoses, updates parents on available medical resources, and circulates annual newsletters.

AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization that provides information, advocacy and service for people age 50 and over. It is active in every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Active Minds

Active Minds is the only organization working to utilize the student voice to change the conversation about mental health on college campuses.  By developing and supporting chapters of a student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy group on campuses, the organization works to increase students’ awareness of mental health issues, provide information and resources regarding mental health and mental illness, encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed, and serve as liaison between students and the mental health community.

African American Family Services

The African American Family Services (AAFS) helps the African American individual, family and community reach a greater state of wellbeing through the delivery of community-based, culturally specific chemical health, mental health, and family preservation services.  The divisions are: the Institute on Black Chemical Abuse, the African American Counseling Center (AACC), the African American Resource Center (AARC), and the Technical Assistance Center (TAC).

Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (ACC Network)

Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (ACC Network) is an organization which provides information and communication links to individuals, families and professionals. ACC Network also provides general information packets about ACC, publishes a newsletter, and sponsors an online descussion group (ACC-Listserv).  The University faculty and staff associated with the ACC Network also conduct research to develop a behavioral phenotypes of individuals with ACC and other callosal disorders.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a voluntary, worldwide fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. AA's primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.  One tool is AA's Twelve Steps. The general service office provides AA literature and catalogs upon request. AA's website also has newsletters and other publications, and is available in Spanish and French.

American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI)

The AAAAI represents allergist/immunologists, allied health professionals and others with a special interest in the research and treatment of allergic disease. The AAAAI serves as an advocate to the public by providing educational information about allergic diseases.  Their website provides useful patient information, professional education, member updates, physician referral services, and timely data for the media.

American Academy of Pediatrics

American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is dedicated to attaining optimal physical, mental, and social health for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults through policy research, advocacy, and professional and public education. Information, resources, and publications are available through AAP's website, and many are in Spanish.

American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation (AAPAR)

AAHPERD is an alliance of five national associations and six district associations of professionals supporting and assisting those involved in physical education, leisure, fitness, dance, health promotion, and education and all specialties related to achieving a healthy lifestyle.  It is designed to provide members with a comprehensive and coordinated array of resources, support, and programs to help practitioners improve their skills and so further the health and well-being of the American public.

American Association of Kidney Patients, Inc. (AAKP)

The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) exists to serve the needs, interests and welfare of all kidney patients and their families. Its mission is to improve the lives of fellow kidney patients and their families by helping them to deal with the physical, emotional and social impact of kidney disease.  AAKP engages in a variety of educational and supportive programs.
