The Family Support Center on Disabilities: Knowledge & Involvement Network was funded in 2008 by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.   We offer a centralized resource to individuals with disabilities, their families and the public on the full range of options available to them.  We also provide information and connections to help them make informed choices and participate in decision making.

Our goal is to help realize the purpose of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 to assure that "Individuals with developmental disabilities and their families participate in the design of and have access to needed community services, individualized supports, and other forms of assistance that promote self-determination, independence, productivity, and integration and inclusion in all facets of community life, through culturally competent programs."

Our staff brings both professional and personal experience in the disability field, in information and dissemination, in the benefits of networks. We provide assistance and information in both English and Spanish.

We believe that increased knowledge and access to a range of options improves the lives of individuals with developmental and other disabilities and that participation in decision making at the local, state and national levels will result in systems designed to meet the needs of individuals and their families.

We value the work of the many agencies, organizations and specialized groups throughout the country and promote the work they do.  We know the strength of collaboration and the need for coordination.  Through connecting people we will create change.
